A Rustic Getaway

Back in August (you'll be able to tell, that was a busy month for us!) following our Wood/Christensen reunion was our WoodBURY reunion! We deserted the sand and waves of Carlsbad, CA for the mountains, trees and lakes of Jackson, Wyoming. We spent a relaxing week reading, playing games, searching for license plates of all 50 states, hiking, boating, rafting (my first time and an AWESOME experience!), playing video games at night, picking fights with buffalo, and enjoying each other and beautiful, rustic Wyoming!
The fun Woodbury crowd outside the cabin we rented for the week, which contained everything from a hand shuffle board, lots and lots of cowboy/Indian memorabilia, and stuffed animal heads to spare.
The boys glued to the Nintendo Wii
Danny and I in front of Old Faithful. Oh, the miracles of nature!
Just a small snapshot of the wildlife we came across. This included probably about 20 elk, one bull moose, hundreds of buffalo, and as you will see later, a wild skunk and wolf.
One of the buffalo in a group of hundreds which we passed while driving through Yellowstone. In fact, as Danny was out of the car taking a picture of some of them, one which was immediately next to the road began pawing at the ground and snorting in Danny's direction! After a bit of yelling, Danny quickly sprinted back to the safety of Heather's van, and I am glad to say Danny is alive and well after his dangerous brush with the wild.
I'm not so sure Danny would have been so lucky if he had come across this stinky Wyoming skunk and wild, rabies infected wolf!
Wake-surfing. One of the only water sports I could do as I tore one of my contacts on our first day, so had to wear glasses the entire time. As wake-surfing is much slower and lower-impact if you fall, we figured I would be ok with a nerdy pair of red, buoyant chums to keep my glasses on my face or at least floating if they fell off.
My first time being pulled on a tube, believe it or not! It was quite the experience, considering the fact that I was literally blind without my glasses and couldn't see any bumps or waves approaching! Boy did I get some air!
Danny showing his wakeboarding skills with the glorious Titans in the background! Well, he's not quite showing off his skills in this pic, but it is definitely the best to show the incredible setting we were enjoying ourselves in! And I'll be putting up pictures of his mad skills (including his air chair BACKFLIPS on in the future!
